Girl student tortured: LHC summons SP, SHO Bahawalpur

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned SP Investigation, Bahawalpur and SHO concerned for November 20 in a suo motu proceeding against torture of a land grabbers on a girl student of 8th class. Chief Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain had taken a suo motu notice over the incident published in a local newspaper and referred the matter to Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha.
The court observed that the report published in the newspaper revealed act of barbarism by the accused, causing sensation of, alarm and insecurity in the minds of general public and failure on the part of local police to discharge its statutory obligation to take action against the persons responsible for the violation of law.
SP Investigation and the SHO concerned are directed to appear in person before the court to explain that why action has not been taken against the culprits. According to the news item, accused Ismaeel Jutt with his sons and others entered into the house of one Sohail Anjum, a labourer, in Bahawalpur when he was not in his house.
The accused dragged Sohail's daughter and after removing her cloths tied her with an electricity pole in the street and tortured her. Afterwards they took possession of their house. According to the girl's parents, local police was also protecting the accused, and did not register the case.
