19 Nov, 2008

The Lahore High Court (LHC) called for Wednesday (today) medical report of two minor housemaid sisters who were illegally detained and severely tortured by their master as they allegedly helped their father in stealing money from his house. A close relative of girls, Sharif had moved a Habeas Corpus petition in the LHC, recovery, and release of girls from illegal custody of Usman.
The bailiff had produced the girls Anam(12) and Sana(10) before the court after getting them recovered from residence of Usman Sheikh. The judge Ali Akbar Qureshi was stunned to see that both the girls were terribly terrified, their hair were cut while one of the girls had a broken leg. The judge angrily asked Usman who gave you authority to detained and tortured innocent girls.
I will not let you go scot-free and take strict action against if injuries were proved in the medical reports, the judge roared. Usman Sheikh through his counsel told the court that an FIR had been registered against the girls and their parents as they had stole Rs 1.5 million from his house. He had not detained the girls but admitted that they are living in his house as their parents had not come to take them.
