CIA Police, Iqbal Town division, have busted a gang of criminals involved in a number of incidents, including snatching of motorcycle and other valuables and also arrested its four members and seized cash, cell phones, motorcycles as well as illegal weapons from their possession.
The accused have confessed to their involvement in 14 such incidents during preliminary interrogation. As per details, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), directed SP CIA Muhammad Umar Virk to take effective measures for curbing crimes in Iqbal Town division and a special team was constituted under the supervision of DSP CIA Iqbal Town, Zafar Iqbal Dogar and other officials, which collected the particulars of this gang and arrested its four members on a tip-off.
The criminals used to snatch valuables from passers by at gunpoint on motorbikes. Around 14 cases have also been traced against them in Hanjerwall, Sabzazar, Iqbal Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shafiq-a-bad and Icchra police stations.
The police have recovered two lakh in cash, four motorcycles, three cell phones, three pistols and bullets from their possession. The arrested were identified as Babar Meraj, Sad Hashmi, Muhammad Shakeel and Ghulam Nabi.
A special team has been constituted for the arrest of criminal of this gang who are still at large and further investigation is in progress. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police raiding team.
