Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday inaugurated seminar on investment in China's industrial city, and witnessed several agreements signed between the Punjab government and Chinese companies. The Chief Minister evinced keen interest in the potential of investment and trade between Pakistan and China.
The owners and chief executives of Shanghai's giant companies who attended the seminar, were also briefed by Punjab Commerce and Investment Secretary Tahir Raza Naqvi on the vast investment opportunities in the province.
According to memoranda of understanding (MoU) signed after the seminar, the Chinese companies will invest in Punjab on projects of Elevated Expressway and solid waste management. Agreements were also signed on the provision of solar tube-wells by Chinese companies for Punjab's agricultural sector and a power plant run on coal energy.
