Companies'' returns date extended

The Company Registration Offices (CROs) of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) would accept annual statutory returns and accounts by companies up to December 1, 2008. According to an SECP announcement on Friday, the Commission has extended last date for filing of returns by companies to facilitate the corporate sector.
The Commission has taken measures to facilitate the submission of annual returns for companies. The last date for filing of annual returns (Form A/B, as the case may be) with the registrar, for companies other than listed companies that have closed their annual accounts on June 30, 2008, is November 30, 2008 and for listed companies, it is December 15, 2008.
Moreover, unlisted public companies, associations not for profit, and private companies (having paid up capital of Rs 7.5 million or more) are also required to file their annual accounts on or before November 30, 2008. In order to facilitate filing of annual statutory returns and accounts, the CROs of SECP will remain open on Saturday, November 29, 2008.
