Newly-elected President of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Sharafat Ali Mubarik has said that revival of sick industry, upgradation of industrial estates, resolution of problems faced by flour mills industry and better co-ordination between the government and SCCI would be his priority.
He expressed these views while talking to business community of NWFP after assuming his office here on Saturday. The SCCI president also held out assurance to the industrialists, traders and shopkeepers about resolution of all the problems they face at their doorsteps.
He also assured the participants of the gathering that recommendations of Co-ordination Committee of SCCI for progress of flour mills industry in NWFP, revival of sick units at Gadoon and other Industrial Estates, reduction in electricity and gas load shedding would be implemented in letter and spirit. He said his priority also includes promotion of small and medium entrepreneurs and in this regard efforts would be made from SCCI platform.
The Research and Development Cell of SCCI would be made more practical so that new avenues for promotion of trade and commerce in NWFP be explored. Effective measures would be taken for provision of loans to businessmen of the province through Bank of Khyber on low interest rates, he added.
Sharafat Ali Mubarik disclosed that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has directed heads of all the commercial banks to send their representatives to SCCI on every Tuesday and Thursday for finding out ways for provision of loans on easy terms to SME sector. In this regard, he added, an official of Bank Al-Falah would be present in SCCI on December 16, next.
Leader of Businessmen Forum, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, former President of SCCI, Haji Muhammad Asif and prominent businessmen including Ghulam Sarwar Khan Mohmand, Colonel Syed Khizar Hayat, Liaqat Ahmad Khan, Malik Niaz, Ghazanfar Bilour, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi and others were present on the occasion.
