30 Nov, 2008

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman has said the 42nd Founding Anniversary of PPP is a day to reiterate Party's commitment to democracy and implement the vision of the Bhutto leadership for a progressive Pakistan. "The year 2007-08 has been one of the most difficult periods in PPP's history, following the tragic death Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto," said Sherry.
She said that the Party's response to the series of attacks on its structure, ideals and values was no different from what it always has been. "We have always risen above challenges and we would continue to do so. Our resilience has been our strength.
Therefore, despite the biggest national tragedy in decades that came in the form of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's martyrdom, we not only survived, we saved the nation from disintegrating, by putting a united front and contesting elections." Sherry said that the February 18 elections proved once again that the PPP remains the sole representative of the democratic aspirations of the Pakistani nation.-PR
