30 Nov, 2008

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday recorded deposition of prosecution witnesses in Benazir Bhutto assassination case and adjourned further hearing till December 6. Judge ATC-I Chaudhry Habib-ur-Rehman resumed the hearing of the Benazir Bhutto assassination case inside the high security Adiala Central Jail.
The court indicted Sherzaman, the fifth accused of the case. The hearing of the case was shifted from Rawalpindi District Courts to Adiala Central Jail due to security reasons. The defence counsel cross-examined the prosecution witness.
The counsel of accused Sherzaman pleaded before the court that the section mentioned in the charge-sheet against his client are totally irrelevant and could not be levelled against his client.
He challenged the competency of the charge-sheet against Sherzaman, saying that his client has not committed any offence mentioned in the charge-sheet. He pleaded before the learned judge that the charge-sheet against Sherzaman be reviewed.
