Ali Akbar Group of Companies has successfully experimented with the cultivation of cotton in barani areas of Chakwal. Chairman, National Research Council (NARC), Dr Iltaf Zafar has congratulated the Chairman Pakistan Crop Protection Association (PCPA) and Managing Director Ali Akbar Group, Engr Javed Saleem Qureshi on the successful experiment.
Engr Javed Saleem Qureshi and Dr Iltaf Zafar visited the location. On this occasion, Javed Qureshi said that there is a vast land in barani areas, which can be brought under cultivation and for this purpose latest technology has been hired from China.
He further said that Ali Akbar Group has sown cotton on about 50,000 acres land and to get the desired results refined seeds, fertilisers and pesticides have been used. "The quality of cotton produced in barani areas is alike that of produced in canal areas", he added. Moreover, the cotton crop would be more supportive to farmers in barani areas because its production expenditures are low.
