President of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Multan Mehmood Ashraf Khan has said that India and Pakistan should peacefully overcome their misunderstandings instead of adopting war which would push both countries many centuries back.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday he said the whole lawyer community was with the Pakistani nation and the armed forces to frustrate any aggressive attempt of the neighbouring country. He said that present regime was not ready to take the lawyers into confidence and government did not invite new president of SCBA Ali Ahmad Kurd to the National Security Conference. He said on the national security issue there were no difference on the part of the legal fraternity for which survival and defence of the country preceded every other thing.
Giving suggestions to government, he asked it to store wheat, rice and oil and inform the nation about the civil defence training. He called for reducing all unnecessary expenditures by the government asking the rulers to show a spirit to sacrifice so that the nation could follow the same.
He asked Pakistanis, including ruling politicians, to bring back their money from abroad to country so that foreign reserves of state could be increased at this difficult time. Aitzaz also demanded immediate reinstatement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges for the respect and prestige of the country.
Expressing sorrow over Karachi unrest, he asked the government to take immediate and strict measures to control it. Responding to a question, he said lawyers' movement would continue and any change therein would be brought through the decisions of National Co-ordination Council (NCC), meeting of which will be held after Eid.
