An election tribunal headed by a judge of the Lahore High Court postponed till January 20 the hearing for framing issues in an election petition of the PML-Q President, Chawdhry Shujaat Hussain against the Federal Defence Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar. Shujaat requested the court to declare the respondent disqualified on the basis of the irregularities committing during the polling.
He alleged that the respondent committed grave irregularities on the polling day and barred a number of his voters from casting their votes. He further alleged that the returning officer also considered a number of rejected votes in favour of Mukhtar. He further pleaded that Mukhtar was also a defaulter of Rs 63, 5162 against property tax therefore, should be declared as ineligible for contesting elections.
