US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has ordered aides to prepare a plan for closing the Guantanamo prison, a declared priority for president-elect Barack Obama, a Pentagon spokesman said Thursday. Gates wanted to be prepared in case Obama decides to take action on Guantanamo soon after taking office next month, said Geoff Morrell, the Pentagon press secretary.
