I am one of those many who wonder why the province from which our Pathan brothers hail is not named after them. The province from which Punjabis hail is named Punjab, the province from which Balochis hail is named Balochistan, the province from which sindhis hail is named Sindh and the state from which Kashmiris hail is named Kashmir. Why is it that the province from which Pathan hail does not have Pathania as its name.
As the languages of other provinces viz. Punjabi, Balochi, Sindhi derive their names from the names of respective provinces the language spoken by Pathans from Pathania should be known as Pathani. Now that there is a prospect of alteration of their province's name Pathans should rightly adopt Pathania as the province's name. They and their province will thus become analogous with other provinces of the country.
