Erra disburses Rs 63.59 billion for rural house building

The Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) has disbursed an amount of Rs 63.59 billion under rural housing scheme for quake victims of the NWFP and AJK. Deputy Chairman Erra, Lieutenant General Sajjad Akram. While addressing the Donors Conference, here said.
The authority had achieved significant progress in the rural housing sector with mobilisation of 761,444 professionals. "Erra has secured 69.32 percent progress rate during the last six months in comparison to 59.40 percent of the earlier six months," he said. Master Plans have been finalised for four major cities while many projects were underway in Rawlakot and Bagh cities on priority basis.
He said progress rate in health sector during last six months was also higher than initial six months of 2008. Earlier, chairman Erra Altaf M Saleem said that the resilience of affected people, the resolve of the government of Pakistan, and the support of donor agencies were the three key factors that helped Erra to achieve the targets.
