12 staff members of EDO office suspended

The Sindh Senior Minister for Education, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has ordered suspension of 12 staff members of EDO office Hyderabad, for their involvement in illegal recruitment of teachers and warned of severe consequences if any one found doing malpractice in the Education Department.
He order came in a meeting of officers of Education Department and District Government Hyderabad he was presiding over at Circuit House Hyderabad last night. The District Nazim Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, DCO, Ali Ahmed Lund, DPO, Ghulam Nabi Memon, Additional Secretary Education, EDO Education, EDO Works and Services and other officers from the district government and education department attended the meeting.
The Sindh Minister said that the present PPP government believes in the merit and had accepted the IBA test results for teachers' recruitment conducted by the previous government to ensure the qualitative education in the province. Further, the Minister said that his department has planned to recruit new force of 14,000 teachers purely on merit through reputable organisations to meet the shortage of teaching staff in the schools.
He said that judicious and merit culture in education department was being encouraged not only to conduct new recruitment on merit but also to expedite the proceeding for the promotion of teachers by conducting the monthly meeting of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) regularly.
Haq said that due to this practice, as many as 1,000 teachers have been promoted within last seven months. Besides, the scales of teachers were also being increased to give incentive to talent manpower for their services in education department.
