CDGK starts installing generators at water pumping stations

The City Government has started installing power generators at all its water pumping stations in the city to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the city, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal told the business community. Addressing members of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Wednesday.
He said that the decision of installing power generators was taken keeping in view KESC's poor services, frequent power failures and unannounced loadshedding. He said up till now the city government has installed 18 power generators and the remaining will be installed in the next few weeks. He further said that the under construction sewerage water treatment plant will be started operating in 2010.
He said that after the completion of construction work all sewerage lines of the city would be connected with the sewerage water treatment plat to improve environment and marine life. The City Nazim said that Karachi contributes more than 68 percent revenue to the federal exchequer while it has to beg for 2 percent funds from the federal government for its development projects.
