Senior economic journalists Mansoor Ahmad (The News) and Itrat Bashir Ahmad (Business Recorder) have unanimously been elected as President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Lahore Economic Journalists Association (LEJA) for the year 2009.
The annual election of LEJA was held here on Wednesday, in which Muhammad Sudhir Chaudhry (Daily Aaj Kal) and Imran Adnan (TV Channel City-42) have been elected as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, of the Association. Announcement in this regard was made by the seasoned TV anchor and journalist Rizwan ur Rehman Razi who acted as the Election Commissioner.
Three-member Executive Committee was also elected unopposed, which include Syed Mansoor Bokhari (Musawat), Ashraf Javed (The Nation) and Noman Tasleem (Daily Times).
Speaking on this occasion, the incumbent President Mansoor Ahmad said that during his tenure he would be focusing on skill development and capacity-building of his fellow professionals with the co-operation of various organisations.
Outgoing President Fakhir Amin Malik in his address congratulated the new body and assured them his full guidance and co-operation in their plans. He also stressed the need for capacity building of the journalists covering economic activities. The house on this occasion also offered fateha for the mother of senior economic journalist Fakhir Amin Malik, who died recently.-PR
