LDA bulldozes 30 illegally built platforms

The staff of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have demolished as many as 30 platforms that had been constructed in the frontline of showrooms and offices, in contravention of building regulations, in the area between Akbar Chowk to Jinnah Hospital, along Moulana Shoukat Ali Road, Johar Town.
LDA spokesman said on Friday that for the four consecutive days the LDA has carried out drive against encroachment. The staff also removed scores of other infringement during the jointly carried out operation, which was participate by the officials of the Estate Management Directorate and Town Planning Wing of the LDA as well as representative from Water and Sanitation Agency.
All these encroachments were causing impediments in movement by pedestrians, flow of traffic as well as quick disposal of storm water from the market. The LDA has urged residents of its schemes' area to voluntarily eliminate all encroachments without further delay, failing which they will have to bear the demolition charges as well.
