The Supreme Court disposed of 149 cases whereas 212 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday December 20, to Friday December 26, 2008. The apex court officials told Business Recorder that the court disposed of 149 cases during this week.
The backlog in the apex Court on 19th December 2008 was 17309 cases; as 212 new cases were instituted, the progressive total of pending cases as on 26th December 2008 comes to 17521 cases, they added. Out of the 149 disposed of cases 106 were civil petitions, 12 criminal petitions, three criminal appeals and 28 other miscellaneous cases.
