EC team leaves for Bangladesh to monitor polls

A delegation of senior officers of Election Commission (EC) of Pakistan will visit Bangladesh to observe 9th Parliamentary Elections being held on 29th December, 2008 on the invitation extended by the Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh, the commission said Friday.
Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary Election Commission is leading the delegation. The delegation will later visit Nepal. Eight days visit will enable the officers of ECP to share their electoral experiences with sister Election Management Bodies in Bangladesh and Nepal.
The study of electoral practices in other countries of the region is always helpful in further strengthening electoral process in Pakistan. The delegation will return to Pakistan on January 3, 2009. Kanwar Dilshad told that the purpose of these visits is to enable ECP to share experiences and understand the best practices developed for free and fair elections.
