Railways officials asked to improve standard of dining cars

Federal Railways Minister, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has directed Railways officials to improve the standard of dining cars in trains for providing good quality food to passengers at reasonable rates. Presiding over a high level meeting at Railways headquarters on Friday, the minister directed the authorities to ensure best possible facilities to all passengers.
The Chairman Railways, Muhammad Kashif Murtaza and other high officials also attended the meeting. The Chief Commercial Manager, Aftab Ahmed Memon gave a detailed briefing to the Minister about Railways' earnings through open auction of dining cars, vending stalls and luggage vans.
He was told that vending and catering contracts were given for one year while luggage van contract was given for three years stated Railways sources. The minister was told that each month, on average Rs 15 million were recovered as fine from ticket-less travellers.
