The Directorate General of Films and Publications (DGFP) here on Friday launched 5 publications carrying historical documents, speeches and statements of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in connection with his birth anniversary.
These publications are titled as "Quaid-i-Azam Historical Documents- A Souvenir", "Words of Wisdom", "Thus Spoke The Father", "Mohammed Ali Jinnah - Founder of Pakistan" and "Quaid-i-Azam: Taqarir-o-Bayanat" (The Speeches and Statements of Quaid-i-Azam).
Renowned author, Mohammed Ali Siddiqui, on the occasion presented a preview from the contents of the publications that are a complete life sketch of Quaid-i-Azam and the Pakistan movement. He lauded the efforts of DFP in collecting rare historical documents and stressed the need for publishing these documents in other regional languages in order to present the true image of Jinnah.
He termed the publication "Words of Wisdom", as an approach to understand the Quaid's personality through the extracts from the speeches of the Founder of Pakistan. "The Historical Documents - A Souvenir", is based on the facsimile of notes made by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah on May 20, 1938 before discussions with M. K. Gandhi. It also carries the text of the resolution passed at the 27th session of the All-India Muslim League held at Lahore from March 22-24, 1940.
Director General, DFP, Sajida Iqbal Syed, speaking on the occasion said that DFP is launching a series of publications regarding Pakistan movement and Quaid-i-Azam, Speeches of Benazir Bhutto, and the pictorial view of Pakistan. Paying tributes to the contributions of the great leader of subcontinent, Executive Secretary, Nazria-e-Pakistan Council, Munawar Rahi threw light on the teachings of Quaid through the slogan "Faith, Unity and Discipline".
The launching ceremony was followed by an exhibition of rare photographs and documents of Quaid-i-Azam and other Freedom Movement leaders. The black and white seldom seen photographs included the images of the Father of Nation captured from the events of his life, portraits, various meetings and public gatherings that highlight the contributions of the great heroes of Pakistan Movement.
