Russian government buys 151,605 tonnes of grain

The Russian government bought a total of 151,605 tonnes of grain on Thursday, the 45th day of intervention tenders aimed at propping up prices, data from the exchange in charge of the tenders showed. The total included 20,385 tonnes of third-grade milling wheat, 43,335 tonnes of fourth-grade milling wheat, 42,255 tonnes of feed wheat, 10,800 tonnes of milling rye, 24,705 tonnes of feed barley and 10,125 tonnes of maize.
Tenders are held from Monday through Friday. The nearest auction will be held on Friday, December 26. The last auction this year will be held on December 31. Trade will restart from January 12, 2009.
