Six Thai friends die in car crash

28 Dec, 2008

Six young Thais were killed when their car fell off an elevated highway on the outskirts of the capital following graduation celebrations, the Nation newspaper reported Saturday. Their car hit the highway sidewall at about 2:30 am Saturday, flipping over to land upside down on the road below, police said.
Friends following in a separate vehicle said they had all been celebrating the graduation from college of two of the victims at a local pub in Pathum Thani province, near Bangkok. The Centre for Alcohol Studies said an average of 84 people died each day over the holiday period last year, with three-quarters of the cases involving drink driving.
