Microsoft has released the first public beta of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), available from both its Microsoft's Vista web site and via Windows Update. The beta, which is free for registered Vista users, includes improvements in security and performance from Vista SP1.
It also includes support for new types of hardware. Among the enhancements to SP2 will be support for Blu Ray high definition video encoding.
