Mild intensity earthquake hits northern parts, more predicted

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mild intensity earthquake during next six months in northern areas of the country. Director General PMD, Dr Qamaruz Zaman said on Monday that there are expectations of some mild earthquakes in northern parts of the country.
Meanwhile, earthquake of moderate intensity was felt on Monday morning in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, Malakand division, Tarbela Ghazi, Gilgit, Chitral and Ghizer. The epicenter of the 5.7 magnitude tremor was in Hindukush range located just 141 kilometers beneath the earth, whereas 145 kilometers in north west of Mingora and 71 kilometers in north-west of Chitral, said PMD officials.
