International community wants India, Pakistan to defuse tension: Sartaj

Former finance minister Sartaj Aziz said the international community is concerned over the situation in the region and wants India and Pakistan to defuse tension. Talking to Voice of America.
He said the entire international community including countries like China and Saudi Arabia are concerned over tension between the two nuclear powers Pakistan and India and want improvement in situation fearing eruption of war that will lead to large-scale devastation.
He said China will stress that there should be no war as it is neither in the interest of Pakistan nor India. Now there are signals from India that it does not want war and wants to reduce tension, he added. He said escalation of tension and any adventure would not remain limited to the region and would have consequences for the whole world.
To a question he said any hostilities will have implications for the economies of both the countries. He said US President-elect Barack Obama won the election while calling for change in his country's policies on the war on terror, in Iraq and Afghanistan.
