District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Dr Raheel Ahmed Siddiqui has called upon the members of District Peace Committee to play their due role in maintaining religious harmony and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram. He was addressing the meeting of peace committee held here on Tuesday to review the arrangements made by the district administration and police for maintaining peaceful atmosphere during Ashura-e-Muharram.
He told the meeting that foolproof security arrangements had been made for ensuring peace during this sacred month. Appreciating the role of the Ulema to maintain peace, he appealed them to extend further their co-operation for maintaining law and order during Muharram. DPO Muhammad Tahir Rai informed the meeting that police had made foolproof security arrangements and police contingents would be deployed at the premises of Majalis and no one would be allowed to enter without search.
However, he urged the members of the peace committee to keep vigilant eye on the suspicious elements for ensuring peaceful atmosphere during Ashura-e-Muharram. Sheikh Manzoor, Maulana Abdur Rauf Rabani, Maulana Hafiz Akbar Awan, Majid Hassan Zaidi, Khawaja Muhammad Idress, Akbar Ali Shaheen, Khateeb ul Nabi Shah and Malik Abdul Aziz attended the meeting.
