To uphold the renewed pledge of attaining freedom from Indian suppression and to carry on the mission of martyrs, Kashmiris all across the world are observing Kashmir Martyrs’ Day (Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Kashmir) on Thursday.

The call for observance through shutter-down strike has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Amid complete shutdown strike, a march will be conducted towards Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar where martyrs of 1931 are buried.

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and across the world observe July 13 as Kashmir Martyrs’ Day in remembrance of the people martyred by Maharaja Dogra’s forces on July 13, 1931.

The troops of Maharaja Dogra had killed 22 Kashmiris ruthlessly outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer, who had asked Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.
