All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Association on Thursday gave the deadline of January 5 to the government to close all CNG stations throughout the country if the government did not withdraw the decision of gas tariff hike.
Addressing a press conference, All Pakistan CNG Association Chairman Tariq Kundan demanded of the government to immediately withdraw the decision of gas tariff hike by over 10 percent for CNG stations. He said that CNG association had taken the decision of giving deadline to the government to withdraw the decision of gas tariff hike for the CNG stations.
He said that the government had hatched a conspiracy to equate the CNG prices with petrol that would not only destroy their businesses, but it would also deprive the consumers of the cheaper source of fuel as compared to the petrol. He said that CNG stations would not implement the government decision to increase gas tariff by 10 percent till January 5.
"The CNG stations will be closed from January 5 if the government would not withdraw the decision of gas tariff hike;" he said, adding that if they implemented the government decision to increase the gas tariff for CNG, the CNG price would be raised from existing Rs 45 to Rs 49 per kilogram that would not be affordable for the consumers.
He also ruled out the allegations of undue profit, and said that they were making profit of rupees five per kilogram to rupees eight per kilogram on the sale of CNG. He requested the higher authorities to withdraw the decision of gas tariff hike for the CNG stations to save CNG owners as well as the consumers.
