Progress on BBSYDP reviewed

The DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has said that as many as 576 youths were getting training in different trades at different institutions in Hyderabad district, while the number of these trainees would be raised upto 1,072 candidates by inducting more 496 candidates in Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP) within few weeks.
This he said while presiding over District Co-ordination Committee for BBSYDP to review progress on the programme and discussed administrative matters for inducting more candidates in the programme held at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad last evening.
Addressing the meeting, the DCO Hyderabad informed that presently 149 candidates were being provided training in agriculture department, 56 in Works and Services, 90 in Livestock and Fisheries and 281 in Labour department, while the training of 131 candidates was being started in Health department from January 5, 2009.
He said that training for 168 selected candidates for Education department and 197 candidates for IT department would be started shortly. He said that this training would be provided to the candidates with monthly stipend so that they could not feel any difficulty in continuing their training.
He said that the purpose of providing such type of technical training to the youths was to eradicate unemployment from the society one hand and to strengthen the nation building/serving departments other hand. He further said that this scheme would raise purchasing power of the people that would faster the investment activities to produce more to meet demand of the people.
He directed the management of the training institutions, not to compromise on the quality of training and attendance of candidates and not to issue stipend to any candidate having his/her attendance less than 90 percent. Ashif Iqbal Memon, Secretary to District Co-ordination Committee Hyderabad informed the meeting that all arrangements for starting training of 131 selected candidates in Health department have been finalised.
He said that according to the guideline issued by the programme management, selection of the candidates has been made under population and backwardness criteria just to provide immediate relief to the poor segment of the society. The EDOs of District Government, representatives from different technical training institutes and other officers attended the meeting.
