The Vice Chancellor pointed out that JUW was one of the few institutions where the newly admitted students were given a detailed orientation. He said the classes for the new entrants were scheduled to commence from January 5. Professor Riaz pointed out that JUW had the honour of being the first and the largest university exclusively for the women.
He said it was a multi-disciplinary institution with the faculty of arts, science, pharmacy and business administration and commerce with various departments under each faculty totalling 19. In keeping with the religious tradition, Islamic Learning was taught as a compulsory subject in all the disciplines, he added.
Professor Riaz further informed that in the last 10 years of its existence, the total enrolment of the JUW had risen to more than 4,000. He said that this year the university stepped out to commence afternoon classes offering apart from regular classes, post-graduate diploma and certificate courses for professional proficiency.
