LHC refuses to hand over custody of children to mother

03 Jan, 2009

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday refused to hand over the custody of four children to their mother as she refused to inform the court about her stay after leaving her husband. Shahida of Gujranwala, had sought court directions for recovery of her children from the custody of their father, Saifullah.
She said her children Maryam Bibi (14), Umm-i-Farwa (13), Aamier Suhail (12) and Ehteshad Ali (7), needed her for their proper upbringing. She argued that their father had refused to hand them over to her and was keeping the children illegally. The court observed children's custody with either of the parents could not be declared illegal unless the court decided so.
