Tanker loaded with oil hijacked from Super Highway

A gang of armed bandits riding two cars hijacked a tanker loaded with 50,000 litres oil from Super Highway near Nooriabad in wee hours on Friday. According to Karachi Goods Carriers` Association and Malik Nazar Muhammad Awan, the owner of the tanker, the incident took place at about 2.30am.
Awan told PPI that his tanker filled with export quality petrol was coming from Attock and was bound for Karachi Port when bandits in two cars intercepted it. They overpowered the driver and later drove the tanker to Northern Bypass where they threw the driver in a jungle and made good their escape.
The driver later informed the owner on telephone about the incident. Malik Nazar, who has not yet lodged the FIR with police, said a large number of incidents of snatching trucks loaded with different commodities were taking place at Super Highway and Northern Bypass adding that some influential persons of the area were involved in these cases.
