Government asked to stop military operations in tribal areas

05 Jan, 2009

Ulema and mashaikh Pakistan (UMP) president Chiragh Din Shah has asked the government to immediately stop military operations in tribal areas and elsewhere in the country. This he stated at a news conference here on Sunday. He also called for implementation of all Islamic provisions of 1973 Constitution.
He said that this would help a lot to bring the country back to normalcy. He said that Israel in Palestine and India in Kashmir were committing brutalities against humanity, and the international community was observing these developments as a silent spectator.
He urged Pakistan to play its role in stopping Israel from open aggression against the innocent Palestinian Muslims. He called for immediate meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to take up Israel's invasion in Gaza strip. He said that the UMP had given an 11-point formula to the government for peace and normalcy in the country. The first and foremost point of the formula is giving effect to all Islamic provisions of the 1973 constitution. He said that if the formula would be accepted by the government, the situation in Pakistan would improve tremendously.
