Task force to arrest cattle thieves formed

A crack down is being launched throughout Faisalabad Division to curb the menace of cattle theft on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Tahir Ahmad Sindhu Chairman Task Force against Cattle Theft in Western Punjab while chairing the meeting of the task force in the Committee Room of Commissioner Office here today stated this.
Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed, RPO Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, MPAs Iftikhar Ahmad, Mahr Sultan Sikandar Bharwana(Jhang), Rao Kashif Raheem(Faisalabad) and other officers were also present in the meeting.
Chairman Task Force Tahir Ahmad Sindhu further said that a target had also been assigned by the Chief Minister Punjab to recover the stolen cattle during the previous 5 years. As cattle lifting is a heinous crime. He said that cattle lifters would be taken into the clutches of law during the drive in Faisalabad Division and stern action will also be taken against the "Rassageers" and "Touts" involved in the crime of cattle theft.
The Chairman Task Force also stressed upon the police authorities for immediate registration of FIRs against the crime of cattle lifting, negligence and reluctance in this regard would not be tolerated. He directed that a comprehensive list of "Rassageers and Touts" should be prepared with the assistance of special branch so that the criminals could be sent behind the bar taking stern legal action against them without any discrimination even if they were the influential of the society and no pressure will be entertained in this regard.
The Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed said that the meeting of the Task Force will be held every month regularly and emergent meeting would be called as and when it is required. He said that serious efforts should be started to eliminate the theft of cattle like the other crimes. RPO told the meeting that decision and recommendations of the task force would be conveyed to the DPOs and SHOs of Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts immediately after the meeting. He also told that the DPOs would brief the Task Force about the arrests and other steps taken by them for the elimination of cattle lifting in the next meeting. Concerned police officers briefed the meeting about the recovery of stolen cattle achieved so far.
