Mumtaz Bhutto granted bail

Judicial Magistrate, South, Karachi, Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah on Monday admitted bail to Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, Chairman Sindh National Front, in case of alleged attack on newspaper's office in Karachi. According to police, Dr Khair Muhammad lodged FIR (0{009) US 147, 148, 149, 506-B, 452, 504, 109 PPC at PS Frere, Karachi, alleging some persons claiming to be workers of SNF visited daily Awami Awaz newspaper's office in Karachi on January 01, 2009.
They allegedly threatened staff of dire consequences as article of SNF chief Mumtaz Ali Bhutto was not published in newspaper. He was arrested from his village Mirpur, Larkana on January 3, 2009 & shifted to Karachi. Investigation Officer Inspector Rana Aslam appeared before JM Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah & requested for physical custody of accused for 14 days & informed accused was hospitalised. JM asked him to submit medical report on ailment of accused & granted him two hours time for purpose. Later, he submitted a report No 93620 of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
Judicial Magistrate turning down request for physical custody ordered to send accused to judicial custody till January 12, 2009. Advocate Naeem Qureshi for applicant/accused Mumtaz Bhutto submitted case against his client was lodged without jurisdictions, malafidely and based on political vendetta. He submitted his client was ailing and needed treatment.
He stated sections under which case was registered were related to offences, which were bailable. He prayed to grant it to his client. JM Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah allowed request and granted bail to applicant/ accused subject to furnishing surety in sum of Rs 50,000. It adjourned hearing till January 12, 2009 & taken back order of his judicial custody.
