The Senate Standing Committee Chairperson said this to newsmen after being briefed by the Director General, Urdu Science Board (USB) at board office on Monday. She also said that the committee has recommended to the federal government that Urdu should be given the status of official language. She said that the Senate Standing Committee had also recommended that the science textbooks from matriculation to degree level should be translated into Urdu, as it would also be acceptable for Deeni madaris.

'Only those policies will be implemented, which will represent the voices of the people,' she added.
Earlier, speaking at the briefing session, senator Khan said that a particular lobby was trying not to give Urdu the status of official language and was promoting English.
