KESC asked reason for not using full production capacity

Nepra taking notice of a news items published in various newspapers over last few days has asked KESC to explain reasons for not utilising full available capacity from its generating stations as well as power purchased from IPPs.
The KESC has also been asked to explain why it is not purchasing enough furnace oil for producing electricity as reported in the press. The Authority issued a notice to KESC on January 2, 2009 and asked it to file its reply latest by January 7, 2009. Any further action by the Authority on the issue would be decided, under Nepra Act and Rules, on receipt of KESC reply. Nepra has also deputed a team of experts to inspect KESC records and put up its report before the Authority regarding tariff adjustment petition of KESC pending before the Authority.
