Tax defaulters: minister orders to issue notices

The Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed the concerned officials of his department to issue show cause notices and seal the properties of those defaulting in payment of taxes.
Presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday at his office, the minister also directed the officials to prepare afresh the list of registered companies and bring into net the unregistered companies so that revenue could be increased.
He asked the secretary excise and taxation to immediately transfer the excise and taxation officers and inspectors showing no improvement in recovery of hotel tax, property tax, professional tax and other taxes. Such officers should also be transferred who are posted at a place for over a year with no remarkable performance. Chawla directed to ensure collection of taxes more than 40 percent above the fixed target.
He further warned that concerned ETO should be held responsible for missing of any file of the vehicle in motor registration wing and sought from Director Motor Registration Shoaib Siddiqui the list of ill-reputed officers and tenure of posting of ETOs. Secretary E&T Muhammad Naseer Jamali, Additional Secretary Manzoor Memon and other officials attended the meeting.-PR
