New York sugar climbs

Raw sugar futures rallied to finish up 4 percent Tuesday, marking the strongest settlement in two months as fund buying triggered automatic buy orders in hefty volume, brokers said. The key March raw sugar contract jumped 0.45 cent or 3.8 percent to end at 12.27 cents a lb, the loftiest settlement since November 5.
Trades ranged from 11.95 to 12.46 cents. Volume in the March contract reached 57,805 lots at 2:10 pm EST (1910 GMT). Volume traded Monday in the No 11 sugar market reached 65,895 lots exchange data. Volume on Monday in the No 14 market totaled 687 lots exchange.
