KCCI President criticises FPCCI VP's allegations

11 Jan, 2009

Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) President Anjum Nisar and representatives of Businessmen Group Zubair Motiwala, Maqsood Ismail, Majeed Memon, Rasheed Abro, Engr Abdul Jabbar, Junaid Ismail Makda, Talat Mahmood and Muhammad Jawed Bilwani criticised the allegation of Vice President FPCCI Zubair Tufail that Siraj Kassam Teli is sabotaging the election process of the federation.
They expressed that the allegations are baseless and due to guilty consciousness and FPCCI representatives have misinterpreted the appeal of Siraj Kassam Teli to the President. Actually the appeal was made to the President for scrutiny and suspension of those Chambers and Associations who are lacking to conform with Trade Ordinance 2007 and have irregularities in issuance of their licenses.
TOO 2007 was made on the recommendation of neutral committee headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court and in consultation with all stakeholders including business and industrial community of Pakistan over a period of two years and approved with consensus.
They lamented that some paper-based chambers and associations have played their part in the FPCCI election process in the past many years. They apprised that in the last few years matters of such chambers and associations have been discussed with the government at various forums. Last four year records shows and proves that 180 associations and chambers were affiliated with FPCCI and now its number has already reduced to 109, this evidence proves that such associations existed.-PR
