Ghani satisfied with peaceful Ashura

11 Jan, 2009

The NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere maintained during Ashura, and congratulated the respective district administrations, the army and personnel of all other law enforcing agencies (LEAs) for making foolproof security arrangements in this regard.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the Governor also thanked the people for extending full co-operation to the administrations and LEAs in the wake of tough and tight security arrangements. The Governor said that despite many potential threats and apparently in a very difficult environment, the law enforcing agencies had made adequate security arrangements and worked round the clock to ensure peace and tranquility throughout the province, particularly in some of the sensitive areas.
"This has also proved that challenges and threats can be averted with strong will and commitment", the Governor said adding that, "the highest standard of responsibility and commitment, shown by the district administrations, police and other law enforcing agencies deserve appreciation and compliment". The Governor hoped that this high standard of performance would be maintained in future as well.
Highlighting the importance of close liaison between the people, district administrations and LEAs for the maintenance of peace and order in the province, the governor urged the people to further strengthen their co-operation as the mutual understanding will certainly produce better results for all.
