'India can't terrify Pakistan through threatening statements'

11 Jan, 2009

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Central Finance Secretary Muhammad Pervaiz Malik has said that people and leaders of Pakistan are fully alert and united and India cannot terrify Pakistan through threatening and provocative statements. Speaking at a party meeting here on Saturday, Malik said.
"Pakistan wanted friendly relations with India on the basis of equality for lasting peace in the region." He said Pakistan's desire for peace should not be taken as its weakness. If India imposed war on Pakistan, India would be the loser, as it would face disintegration, he added.
He asked the Indian rulers not to lend ears to unwise advisers. Only a mad person could think of war between two nuclear powers, as it would mean mutual annihilation, he opined. He said that PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif had raised voice for protection of national interests in the light of ground realities. He said people of Pakistan were fully united under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif and their morale was loftier than Himalayas.
In case of aggression by India, every Pakistani, following in the footsteps of National heroes - Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Rashid Minhas Shaheed and Sarwar Shaheed - would be ready to lay down life for the protection of motherland, he added. He said if President Asif Ali Zardari implemented proposals, made by Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan could become cradle of peace and tranquility.
He said at this critical juncture of national history, those trying to create hurdles in the way of independence of judiciary would be rejected by masses. Punjab PML-N women's wing Vice-President Zaib Jaffar, MPA, has said that solution of Pak-India conflict lay in dialogue instead of war.
She urged the politicians of Pakistan and India to show sobriety and wisdom rather than issuing inflammatory statements against each other. Zaib Jaffar said that if India had sound proofs regarding Mumbai attack, it needed to present without any delay of time. She said that Pakistan was a peaceful country and wanted to see peace everywhere in the world.
