11 Jan, 2009

Trade union representatives and workers under the aegis of Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) took out a large procession to protest the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel, in violation of all principles of international law. The protestors were carrying banners and shouting slogans against Israel's terrorism, and expressing solidarity and support for the struggling people of Palestine.
The procession started here from Bakhtiar Labour Hall and held a rally before the Lahore Press Club, led by PWF general secretary Khurshid Ahmed and president Chaudhry Talib Nawaz. Other representatives included Osama Tariq, Malik Asif, Salahuddin, Akbar Khan, Hassan Munir, Naseem Iqbal, Shahabuddin Solangi and Syed Zahid Hussain.
The PWF leaders urged all freedom loving people of the world and members of the UN Security Council and General Assembly to use their influence to stop the carnage by the barbaric bombing of Israel.
They also demanded that Pakistan government along with other brotherly nations call for a meeting of the Security Council to stop the Israeli aggression, whose ground assault has resulted in the murder of over 800 Palestinians including children, while the innumerable injured are left without access to medical help. The PWF also condemned the American policy supporting the naked aggression of Israel against an unarmed civilian population.
