The Chairman, Lahore Township Industrial Association (LTIA), Babar Mehmood Chaudhry has urged the government to initiate alternate energy projects on war footing, as this is the only solution to ensure sustainable growth.
The LTIA Chairman in a statement on Wednesday said that the country has enough coal reserves that need to be tapped to overcome energy shortage as, it would curtail heavy import bills while at the same time new projects would help generate employment opportunities.
He paid rich tributes to the PIAF leadership and Lesco authorities for ensuring continuous supply of electricity during day times to the Township Industrial area. He said that all the industrial units, who earlier had closed down their operations due to acute shortage of electricity has now restarted production.
Further, Chaudhry said all this happened due to frantic efforts carried by PIAF leaders, who brought both the industrialists and Lesco authorities to the negotiating table. 'Had the PIAF not intervened well in time, the situation would have gone out of hand earning a bad name for the government,' he said.
