Departmental disputes hurdle in working of educational boards

Increasing ties between Sindh Education Department and Governor House create immense difficulties for the administration of all the educational boards to perform their duties as the provincial education department issued notice to all educational boards to stop development projects.
Recruitment, promotion and all development and maintenance work has been halted as the Sindh Ministry of Education has finally issued notice to the administration of all the boards of Secondary Education, Intermediate Boards and Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Professor M. Saeed Siddiqui chairman of SBTE told Business Recorder on Wednesday.
He said that the SBTE has received the letter from Sindh education department on January 12, 2008 in which the Sindh Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq directed the SBTE to withdraw all advertisements, published in a newspaper few days ago, and stop recruitment in SBTE.
He said that the department had given advertisement in a newspaper to fill the vacant posts in the department but after receiving letter from Sindh education department the process of recruitment has been halted for an indefinite period of time. "The government should take interest to fill these vacant seats for ensuring better services to the students" he said.
He said that the previous administration of the board had not taken initiatives to fill these vacant posts due to which many people were deprived of jobs. "The department recruited some people in these posts belonging to their group on contract," he said.
He said that Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan is looking after seven educational boards of Sindh province including Matric Board, Intermediate Board, Technical Board, Hyderabad Board, Sukkur Board, Larkana Board and Mirpurkhas Board. "The government should resolve their departmental disputes to provide better services to the educational institutes for the promotion of technical education in the province," he urged.
