NADRA: who will help?

16 Jan, 2009

Hundreds and thousands of Karachiites are facing countless problems. I am one of them. National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is working from 1998. It was formed to help the government in developing and implementing a fact-based system of good governance in the country to encounter undocumented population growth and register items belonging to its citizens and organisation.
There are many problems, but it is my duty as a responsible citizen that I should play my role actively. Last year in August I lost my NIC. I went to Nadra Swift Registration Centre (NSRC) Shah Faisal Colony. I bought the token for Rs 70. After forty days I received my new CNIC. I was shocked that all the information, picture and expiry date were the same.
I want to ask the concerned authority that why my new picture was not on my new CNIC? In December I went to passport office so that I can get my passport. I followed the procedure. When the last stage came the officer rejected my application giving reason that your current face look is much changed from the CNIC picture.
The officer guided me that I modify my picture. Now I am facing new problem. Here I want to mention the non-serious attitude of NADRA officer. I got a token for Rs 180 (for urgent). I followed the same procedure again. I submitted the form after attestation on December 23, 2008. According to rules after paying urgent gees one can get CNIC within 15 days. After twenty-two days I am still waiting for my CNIC.
NADRA call centre is also the same. Its performance is below the average. It is the wastage of time and the money. The concerned authority should take notice of the performance of NADRA, their staff's attitude and the problematic NADRA call centre.
