The Federal Minister for Communications Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that the government was committed to provide safe and environment friendly highways to the people. He said this while formally inaugurating the "Green Pakistan" campaign at the National Highway Authority (NHA) head office in Islamabad on Friday.
Chairman National Highway Authority Altaf Ahmed Chaudhry, Member Finance Zafar Iqbal Gondal and other officials were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that under the campaign, trees would he planted along the national highways and motorways network in Pakistan.
He said that construction of safe and environment friendly highways remained the top priority of the present government and efforts were being made to make optimum use of available land. The Minister said that Pakistan's economic and social development could not be achieved without having a modern and efficient road infrastructure.-PR
