LDA drive against encroachments continues

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Friday pulled down two illegally erected iron gates in Bhatti Colony, off Model Town Link Road demolished eight ramps and platforms at Peco Road. According to a LDA's spokesman, all these structures were creating obstacle in pedestrian's movement, traffic flow and especially plying of ambulances and vehicles of other emergency services in the area were facing severe impediment.
The Staff of the Town Planning Wing and Estate Management Directorate of LDA jointly carried out this operation that brought the roads back to original plans. The LDA's anti-encroachment drive is continue in its scheme areas and utility area of private housing schemes with a view to purge these vicinities of illegal structures and other disorders that create hurdles in pedestrians' movement, smooth flow of traffic as well as quick disposal of storm water from roads.
Further, the LDA has urged residents of its schemes' area to voluntarily eliminate all encroachments without further delay, failing which they will have to pay the demolition charges as well. In addition, the encroachers will also be dealt with strictly under sections 33, 34 and 40 of the LDA Act 1975.
